Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

So, for today's class are related to Nobel Prizes. We learnt about the greatest achievement that man can get in the academic world that is definitely cannot be achieve easily. The Nobel Prizes are usually received by the scientist and innovative and creative inventor like Alfred Nobel Dynamite which his name is used as the award name. The picture below shows the brief history about Nobel Prizes.

For a person to receive a Nobel Prize, he or she must be a scientist or an inventor. A scientist is someone that involved int he area of biology, chemistry and physics. The scientist must at least has a degree on pure science i.e; the Bachelor of Science (Biology). By the way, the inventor can be anyone whether he or she has/do not has any academic certificate holder. How the Nobel Laureates are selected each year are by:

  1. The nomination processes which starts in September each year
  2. No person can nominate himself/herself for a Nobel Prize

As for today's group activity was conducted by Am's group in which we have to build a tower by using 20 pieces of recycle A4 papers. The specification for the tower are it need to be tallest and the most stable in order to win. The rules that the had set up for us are we need to build the tower bu using only one hand per person, we cannot say a single words as the leader only can speak and we need to build out tower in 20 minutes. It was so hard to build the tower by just using one hand but it taught us to be patience and follow the rules in order not to be eliminated. This game really boost our creativity as we need to come out with the idea in such a short period of time. But, the game was awesome and we get the chance to save our world by using recycled papers for the activity =D

This is my group's tower ^^

 Fazilah is presenting her group tower in front of the class now hehe

CREATIVITY : part 3

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

I'm back again this week with a new topic that my classmates and I learnt for today : STEPS TO CREATIVITY. Well, there are a few steps needed in order for us to achieve the creativity level. The steps involved are; knowledge, thinking, incubation, eureka!, and development.

Firstly, we should start off with the knowledge. The basic concept of the knowledge in creativity is about making connections. So, we need to acquire the diverse knowledge by utilizing all the 5 senses we have. Furthermore, we need knowledge as the raw material in making connections to come out with a creative idea for solving a problem. Hence, the more diverse the knowledge that we know, the more creative that we could be in which will help us to think outside of the box that can results in a bombastic idea. Thus, by getting a lot of knowledge through reading and learning out of our expertise, we can innovate the existing idea into something new and better for solving a problem that arise.

Next, thinking. Thinking as the second step in creativity is to activate our mind to make useful connections to come out with a possible solution for a problem that we are facing at the moment. This step really acquire us to make use of both sides of our brains to generate ideas and to evaluate and/or develop ideas for practical.

This is because the both sides of our brain have different functions as the left brain is for our logical thinking while the right brain is for ideas/arts. As an example,

The next step after thinking is the incubation period as we needed some time to come out with a really good and brand new idea. This period is the time for us to us mostly our right brain to imagine, fantasizing, or maybe daydreaming to relax our mind a little bit after the brainstorming session.

Sometimes, we get new ideas in an unexpected time and usually we get it during our time in the toilet hahaha =D

The fourth step in creativity is eureka!. At this stage, we had found our right and suitable idea for solving the problem at our hand and everyone in this world has the ability to get ideas. The right example for this step is the story of Archimedes when he discovered about the law of buoyancy.

The last steps in creativity is the development. This is the stage that happens once we already have our idea. In this step, we are acting on our idea to make it useful, functional, possible and also profitable to us. This final step will definitely ensure us that we can solve the problem we are facing, thus, making our lives easier.

Dr also gave us some activity for us to do in the class today. We need to draw something from a black oval that Dr showed to us and posted it on padlet. Go and check out the link below ^^

After the class session, we had came to the time for group activity and today's group is Badik's group. The game that we are playing is the MUTE, DEAF and Blind game. In this game, we were divided into a group of three people and each of us will have our own role whether mute, deaf or blind person. So, for my group which consist of me, Ayu and Ain Syamimi from the red team, I decided to the mute person, Ayu became the deaf person and Ain Syamimi became the blind person. The mute person will have to look at the hints provided and tell the deaf person about the hints by using body language only and then the deaf person will instruct the blind person to draw the 'thing' they guessed based on the hints given. For my team, the hints that I had to act out is about the Malay idiom which is 'bagaikan bulan jatuh ke riba' and 'bagaikan aur dengan tebing'. It was really hard to relay this hints to the next person by just using the body language. It made us realize and feel grateful to the gifts that Allah SWT had given to us which are the eyes that help us to see, the ears for us to hear and the mouth for us to talk. The game taught us the feeling how the person with disabilities would feel in their lives and how hard it is to communicate with other people when we don't have one of the senses. Here, are some of the pictures taken during the activity;

CREATIVITY : part 2

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

We meet again this week with the continuation of the previous entry about CREATIVITY. Today's class was about the creativity methods. There are a few creativity methods which are evolution, synthesis, revolution, reapplication, and changing direction. The evolution method is about making an incremental improvement on something so that every problem that has been solved can be solved again in a better way. For an example, the history of automobile.
A brief history of automobile =)

The next method is synthesis in which two or more existing ideas are combined into a third, new idea. For example;

The other methods of creativity are revolution in which a new idea is sometimes completely different from the existing idea but it still can solve the same problem. In revolution, a remarkable change can be observed. Next, the method of reapplication is to look at something old in a new way so that a new and improved product can be produced while the changing direction method is to change our way of thinking and start looking at a new angle in a way that a new solution can be obtained.

The example of revolution ^^

When we learnt about the methods in creativity, we also need to know the attributes of creativity;

The next thing we do in class was playing a game of tic tac toe. This game was conducted by Sin Nie's group. It is a competition between two groups. The game was very hectic as we tend to shout like, a lot. Really, a lot of shouting until I can't even hear my own voice. The game really taught us to show a good teamwork in order to win. Furthermore, the game taught us to follow the rules provided so that the game can be played smoothly. Here, are some pictures from the game;

In summary. the creativity methods involved;

CREATIVITY : part 1

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

We meet again today with a new topic which is CREATIVITY.

What is creativity? In my own opinion, creativity is the ability to create new things. But, actually, creativity can be defined as something else according to their opinion so there is no definite definition for creativity. Here are a few opinions on creativity according to various person;

Creativity often used to solve problems, to create a product and object and for survival. It is established by the imagination and intellectual processes. Creativity also usually viewed under different perspective like supernatural, rational and development. In the supernatural perspective, creative people are believed born with it and the creativity are not being made through training while in the rational perspective, creativity are the results of the application of universal principles. Last but not least, in the development perspective, creativity is developed as an individual grows to maturity in which the transformation happens from one level of growth to the next stages of adulthood.

During the class, the first group had conducted their game which is 'SAVE THE SPONGEBOBS'. This game was played by all of us. The game requires us to be separated with 3 characters; Plankton, Spongebob and Patrick. All the planktons are the villains in the game while Spongebobs are the one who need to identify who is the plankton hiding in the society. Besides, Patricks are the one who are going to interfere in the game. It was a nerve-wrecking game actually cause we need to find the plankton without killing the spongebob. This game taught me that we need to believe in our guts in order to stay alive in the society.

During the game is carried out =)

Here is a little sneak peek from the game =D

BACK TO CLASS..

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

The class is off today but Dr had given us an online forum to do during the class time. The title about the forum is about the unemployment of the graduates. We have to take part in this forum so we are discussing this issue online through the e-learning. There are so many opinions regarding this matter but personally I think that in order for a fresh graduates to be employed within 6 months after the graduation, they need to have a very good resume to impress the employer. How? They need to know how to 'sell' themselves so that the employers will be convinced enough to employ them. They also need to have good communication skills besides that if they know a third language like mandarin, it will be a huge advantage for them. Nowadays, even a high CGPA can guarantee us that there will be job waiting for us ahead. So, let us gather up some strength to overcome this issue in future! So that's all for today, assalamualaikum w.b.t.
